STRANGERS IN THEIR OWN LANDS
In September 2007, the United Nations adopted a Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples that details 46 Articles about the rights of ALL indigenous peoples. Yet, the persistence of remaining conflict, illegal occupations, and human rights violations demonstrate how humans’ rights are ignored, and millions of Indigenous people across the globe still are deprived of their basic human rights.
From American Indigenous people to Palestinians, Xinjiang Uyghur, Rohingya of Myanmar, Aboriginal Australians, Kashmiris, and indigenous Amazonian tribes, human rights are not being respected. At Human Connection platforms, we aim to raise awareness and highlight the oppression of these Indigenous people who live under constant threats of violence, unbearable living conditions, and continuous displacement through stories and uplifting their voices.
